PayPal Rolls Out One-Time Payment Links With Crypto Transfers for Bitcoin and Ethereum next

PayPal has unveiled a new feature called PayPal Links, offering users a simple way to send and receive payments with a single click. The service is now live in the United States and is expected to expand to the United Kingdom, Italy, and other regions later this month.

One-Time Links Made Easy

With PayPal Links, users can generate personalized payment requests directly inside the app. These links can include notes, emojis, or payment details and remain active for up to 10 days if not used. Senders also have the option to cancel or send reminders before the payment is finalized.

Launching today: PayPal links 🚀

The update makes it easier to handle everything from reimbursements to shared expenses, without the need for complicated account details.

Bitcoin and Ethereum Transfers Integrated

In addition to traditional transactions, PayPal continues to expand its support for digital assets (Links coming in the future). U.S. customers can now move cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum between PayPal and Venmo, or transfer them to compatible wallets worldwide. This step strengthens the interoperability of PayPal’s network, bridging everyday payments with the growing crypto economy.

The company emphasized that personal transfers like gifts, family reimbursements, and shared bills remain exempt from 1099-K reporting requirements.

Part of PayPal’s Larger Digital Strategy

The launch of PayPal Links follows years of steady integration of blockchain features into PayPal’s ecosystem. Since enabling Bitcoin and Ethereum purchases in 2020, PayPal has expanded to include crypto checkouts, transfers to external wallets, and the launch of its own stablecoin, PYUSD, in 2023.

PYUSD, backed by dollar deposits and U.S. Treasuries, has already grown into a $1.3 billion market cap asset and continues to anchor PayPal’s broader digital asset strategy.

With these updates, PayPal is positioning itself at the center of traditional and decentralized finance, making everyday payments more seamless while driving adoption for Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other digital assets.
