Visa is doubling down on blockchain-based payments, revealing plans to integrate four additional stablecoins across four different blockchains, a major step in its long-term digital asset strategy.
CEO Ryan McInerney confirmed during the company’s latest earnings call that Visa will
“Add support for four stablecoins running on four unique blockchains, representing two currencies that we can accept and convert to over 25 traditional fiat currencies.”
The move reflects Visa’s growing confidence in stablecoins as the bridge between traditional finance and blockchain technology. Since 2020, the payments giant has processed over $140 billion in digital asset flows, with stablecoin-linked spending reportedly quadrupling year-over-year.
Currently, Visa supports Circle’s USDC and EURC, PayPal’s PYUSD, and Global Dollar (USDG) across Ethereum, Solana, Stellar, and Avalanche. The new integrations are expected to further expand the company’s global payment infrastructure.
Visa is also building tools that allow banks to mint and burn stablecoins directly through its tokenized asset platform, streamlining cross-border settlements via Visa Direct.
With stablecoin transactions reaching $46 trillion globally, Visa’s expansion marks another step toward merging blockchain payments with mainstream finance, and positioning stablecoins at the core of the company’s future payment network.
