Institutions Expand Bitcoin Holdings
Companies like MicroStrategy and Metaplanet are increasing their Bitcoin reserves. MicroStrategy recently raised $3 billion through convertible notes, with plans to use the funds for Bitcoin purchases. Meanwhile, Metaplanet announced a bond issue to support further Bitcoin acquisitions.
Macroeconomic uncertainties, including inflation and geopolitical tensions, are driving corporate treasurers toward Bitcoin as a reserve asset. Platforms like Abra are launching services to help businesses integrate cryptocurrencies into their balance sheets.
Derivatives Markets Expand
Cboe Global Markets will launch the first Bitcoin ETF-linked options on December 2, enabling investors to trade cash-settled options tied to Bitcoin’s spot price. This follows Nasdaq’s introduction of Bitcoin ETF options, signaling increasing institutional demand and regulatory progress.
Bitcoin ETFs now hold over 5.3% of mined Bitcoin, with trading volumes exceeding $7.2 billion this month. Ethereum Spot ETFs have also rebounded, recording $91.2 million in inflows on November 22 after a six-day outflow streak.
The Growing Impact of Bitcoin ETFs
With BlackRock leading the market, its Bitcoin ETF assets under management (AUM) have reached $40 billion, placing it among the top global ETFs. Significant inflows have reinforced Bitcoin’s role as a key asset, driving liquidity and institutional adoption.
