Bitmine, the treasury firm tied to Tom Lee, is deep in the red on its Ethereum position after the latest market slide. The company is currently sitting on more than $6 billion in unrealized losses as Ether fell sharply, exposing how risky large, leveraged holdings can become when liquidity dries up.
The pressure intensified after Bitmine added another 40,302 ETH to its balance sheet, pushing total holdings past 4.24 million Ethereum. At today’s prices, that stash is valued around $9.7 billion, a steep drop from roughly $13.9 billion reached near the market peak last October.

Ethereum’s move toward the $2,300 range didn’t come out of nowhere. Thin order books and heavy leverage left the market fragile, and once selling picked up, prices slid fast. With positioning crowded, even modest pressure was enough to wipe out months of paper gains for firms holding concentrated exposure.
Despite the drawdown, Lee hasn’t backed away from his long-term view. He’s acknowledged that the reset could take time and that confidence won’t return overnight, but still sees the current phase as a painful adjustment rather than a permanent break.
For Bitmine and others betting big on Ethereum, the next stretch will likely be about survival and patience, not quick rebounds.
