A new phase has begun for Cardano’s privacy-focused sidechain, Midnight, as it opens up the claiming process for its native token, NIGHT. The drop, referred to as the Glacier Drop, will reward users across eight different chains, not just ADA holders.

If you held at least $100 worth of Cardano (ADA), Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Solana, BNB, Avalanche, or Basic Attention Token as of June 11, your wallet might be eligible to claim tokens through Midnight’s official portal.
The distribution isn’t a one-time deal. It’s part of a broader, multi-stage event designed to widen community participation and prevent early exploitation. First, there’s the current Claim Phase; next comes the Scavenger Mine, a 30-day event where users can earn tokens through on-chain activity. Then, a long-running Lost-and-Found window will allow latecomers to claim their tokens over a four-year period after mainnet goes live.
According to Midnight Foundation president Fahmi Syed:
“This airdrop is a rethink of how value and access can be distributed across chains, communities, and use cases and is designed to resist manipulation and encourage long-term engagement.”
Anyone participating in the Glacier Drop will need to connect a qualifying wallet to the portal. NIGHT tokens won’t unlock all at once. Instead, once mainnet is active, tokens will be gradually released over a 360-day stretch, spread out over four random unlocking events. The idea is to reward long-term commitment and avoid supply shocks.
The token rollout is being managed by Midnight TGE, a group overseeing the initial stages of distribution. The team has reminded users to double-check URLs and stick to official sources when connecting wallets.
Built within the Cardano ecosystem, Midnight is focused on enabling data protection using tools like zero-knowledge proofs and selective disclosure. The goal is to offer privacy options that give users control over their information, without cutting them off from interoperability with other blockchains.
