Coinbase has announced that it will suspend trading for Wrapped Bitcoin (wBTC) on December 19, 2024, at 12 PM ET, following its regular asset review process to ensure that all listed assets meet the platform’s standards.
Affected Platforms
The suspension will impact Coinbase.com (Simple and Advanced Trade), Coinbase Exchange, and Coinbase Prime. For the time being, wBTC order books will be in limit-only mode, meaning users can still place and cancel limit orders, and matching trades may occur.
User Access
Although trading will be paused, users can continue to access their wBTC funds and withdraw them at any time. Coinbase ensures that customer funds remain safe and accessible throughout this process.
This move is part of Coinbase’s regular asset monitoring and review procedures, ensuring that listed assets comply with platform standards for security, liquidity, and regulatory requirements.
What Users Should Do
Traders are advised to review their wBTC positions and make any necessary adjustments before the suspension takes effect. Coinbase will continue to monitor the asset and provide updates as needed.
