A new crypto project backed by MMA legend Conor McGregor has stumbled out of the gate. The team behind the $REAL token has confirmed that all funds from the initial offering will be returned to contributors after falling short of their target raise.
Over the course of a 28-hour sealed-bid auction, the presale brought in just over $392,000—well below the minimum requirement of $1 million. The sale had aimed to distribute 60 million tokens, a small slice of the planned 2 billion total supply, at a price of $0.06 each.
Despite some social media buzz and a push from McGregor himself to his millions of followers, the offering didn’t gain the momentum the team had hoped for. Market conditions didn’t help either—last week saw a sharp dip in both crypto and traditional markets, and sentiment across the space has been shaky, especially around newer meme coin-style projects.
The group behind the token, Real World Gaming DAO, says the effort is still alive and that the presale was only the first step. While details on a next move haven’t been shared, they emphasized that the project’s long-term vision remains unchanged.
For now, those who participated can expect their bids back, and the team has stated it will regroup before deciding on the next phase. Whether the project can regain interest down the line remains to be seen.
