Last month, decentralized exchanges hit an all-time milestone, pushing past $1 trillion in combined trading volume, a first for the industry.
Both spot and perpetual markets saw strong growth. Spot volumes jumped to nearly $514 billion, just shy of January’s all-time peak, while perpetual futures set a new record at $487 billion. Hyperliquid emerged as the dominant force, leading the charge on decentralized perps.
BNB Chain Leads Spot Markets
Spot trading activity was largely driven by BNB Chain, which held the crown for the third straight month. With $196.3 billion in volume, BNB accounted for nearly 40% of July’s total, fueled by PancakeSwap’s massive $188.2 billion showing, more than the next four DEXs combined.
Uniswap followed with $98.4 billion in volume, remaining a key player in the space. On Solana, Raydium, Meteora, and Orca collectively handled over $70 billion, continuing to cement Solana’s relevance in decentralized trading.

Ethereum Climbs, Solana Slips
Ethereum posted a solid 48% gain from the previous month, hitting $86 billion and climbing into the second spot by volume. Solana, despite a 35% increase to $85.1 billion, moved down a notch in the rankings.
Base and Arbitrum retained their top-five positions. Base crossed the $40 billion mark for the first time in months, while Arbitrum saw more modest growth but remained a consistent performer.
Hyperliquid’s Massive Breakout in Perps
On the perpetual side, Hyperliquid blew past expectations with $322 billion in volume, making it the first Dex to ever clear the $300 billion mark. That number dwarfs Ethereum’s $48.7 billion, even though Ethereum itself saw a healthy 56% increase.
