The long-running debate between Bitcoin and gold is heating up again. Economist Peter Schiff claims that Bitcoin has “failed” to live up to its reputation as digital gold, pointing to its recent drop compared to gold’s performance.
“Gold is eating Bitcoin’s lunch. Bitcoin is now down 32% priced in gold since its August high. This Bitcoin bear market will be brutal. HODLers, sell your fool’s gold now and buy the real thing, or have fun going broke.”
Meanwhile, Binance founder Changpeng “CZ” Zhao dismissed Schiff’s comments as “Peter revenge,” reminding followers that short-term swings don’t define Bitcoin’s 16-year history.
CZ pointed out that Bitcoin’s journey from $0.004 to $110,000 speaks for itself, far outperforming gold in the long run. He emphasized that while gold may occasionally outshine Bitcoin, its advantage is fleeting compared to BTC’s limited supply and growing global adoption.
