Security researchers recently spotted a new Hack campaign spreading across dark web forums. The scheme involves counterfeit Ledger wallet pages designed to look identical to the official hardware wallet interface, luring users into exposing sensitive data.

According to a Sept. 1 update, the kit, branded as “Ledger Wallet 2025 Smart Scampage Inferno Multichain”, is being marketed by underground vendors as a full-featured tool. It includes a refreshed 2025-style interface, responsive layouts for both desktop and mobile, anti-bot detection, and functionality to capture seed phrases.

Threat actors promote the kit on dark web marketplaces, often advertising it under the guise of “educational purposes.” Distribution links are hidden behind anonymized file-sharing platforms, while sellers invite direct contact for details, hinting at organized networks specifically targeting Ledger users.

Real-World Hack Highlights the Risk

The dangers of phishing were underscored in a recent case. On Sept. 2, a Venus Protocol user was tricked into approving malicious transactions through a hacked Zoom client. The attackers gained elevated access, designated themselves as delegates on Venus, and siphoned off nearly $13 million.

Thanks to rapid response measures, Venus suspended operations within 20 minutes and recovered the stolen funds via emergency liquidation just 13 hours later.

Phishing Is Among the Costliest Threats

Security firm CertiK reports phishing ranks as the second most damaging Hack vector in 2025, with nearly $411 million lost in 132 incidents by mid-year. Not only are these attacks financially devastating, but they also represent the majority of breaches so far, highlighting how effective social engineering remains.

Researchers stress that while dark web sellers claim these Ledger lookalike kits are for harmless testing, the evidence suggests otherwise. If deployed widely, such tools could erode trust in trusted hardware wallets and pave the way for large-scale scams.
