A New Step Beyond Holding Bitcoin
Metaplanet is taking its Bitcoin strategy a step further.
The Japanese company has agreed to acquire Siiibo Securities, a licensed securities firm, in a move that could help bring Bitcoin-related investment products to a wider audience in Japan. The deal is expected to close in July, with Siiibo set to be rebranded as Metaplanet Securities.
Building a Bitcoin-Focused Financial Platform
The acquisition gives Metaplanet access to a regulated securities license, allowing the company to develop and distribute investment products tied to Bitcoin through traditional financial channels.
The move is part of “Project Nova,” Metaplanet’s broader plan to create a Bitcoin-focused financial ecosystem in Japan. Rather than simply accumulating Bitcoin, the company aims to offer investors new ways to gain exposure through regulated products.
“This is the first concrete step in Project Nova.”
Backed by a Massive Bitcoin Treasury
Metaplanet currently holds 40,177 Bitcoin, making it one of the largest corporate Bitcoin holders globally and the largest in Asia.
The company believes those holdings can support future Bitcoin-linked investment products designed for Japanese investors seeking alternatives to traditional savings accounts and low-yield investments.

Looking Ahead
With the acquisition of Siiibo Securities, Metaplanet is positioning itself as more than a corporate Bitcoin holder. The company is building the infrastructure needed to connect traditional investors with Bitcoin through familiar and regulated financial products.
If successful, the strategy could open a new path for Bitcoin adoption in Japan’s investment market.
