In a bold move that signals continued confidence in Bitcoin, a Tokyo-based company has added another 330 BTC to its reserves—spending roughly $28.2 million on the purchase.
Key Points:
- 330 BTC acquired at an average price of $85,605 per coin
- Total holdings now stand at 4,855 BTC
- Year-to-date performance shows gains of over 119%
Simon Gerovich, the company’s CEO, took to social media to announce the news, revealing that the average buy-in price came to just over $85k per bitcoin. With this new acquisition, the firm’s BTC stash has grown to 4,855 BTC, bringing its current valuation close to the $500 million mark.
“Metaplanet has acquired 330 BTC for $28.2 million at $85,605 per bitcoin and has achieved BTC Yield of 119.3% YTD 2025,”
Gerovich shared.
This follows a previous buy of nearly 700 BTC earlier in April, suggesting a clear strategy focused on building long-term crypto reserves. The firm began its Bitcoin journey about a year ago, restructuring its financial strategy around what it now calls a “Bitcoin First” approach—relying on equity and bonds to fuel its acquisitions.
A Familiar Playbook
The approach mirrors that of several other large-scale firms who’ve been aggressively stacking BTC as part of their treasury strategy. While the scale isn’t quite at MicroStrategy levels, the pace is drawing attention, especially given the timing of the purchases.
Interestingly, reports suggest the firm has tapped Eric Trump to join its Strategic Board of Advisors and may be gearing up for a new $10 million buy—potentially acting as another market catalyst.
This latest investment also comes on the heels of Bitcoin crossing $87,000, buoyed by rising demand and growing macroeconomic uncertainties. The decoupling of Bitcoin from traditional markets seems to be gaining momentum, with the asset surging even as stocks remain flat and gold touches new highs.
