Wall Street Giant Moves Forward With Crypto ETF Plans
Morgan Stanley has filed updated S-1 forms with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for its planned spot Ethereum and Solana ETFs, signaling another step forward in the growing race for altcoin investment products.
The new filings reveal the proposed ticker symbols for both funds. The Ethereum ETF is expected to trade under MSSE, while the Solana ETF could use MSOL.
Ethereum and Solana ETFs Include Staking
According to the updated documents, both products are designed to track the spot price of their respective assets while also incorporating staking rewards.
The Ethereum trust plans to stake a portion of its ETH holdings, allowing the fund to potentially generate additional yield alongside Ethereum price exposure. Morgan Stanley noted that the trust itself will not operate as an actively managed investment vehicle.

A similar structure was outlined for the Solana ETF. The filing states that part of the SOL held by the trust may also be staked. Morgan Stanley additionally highlighted risks tied to Solana’s network structure and Proof of History system.

No Fee Details Yet
While the amended filings provide more clarity on how the ETFs will function, Morgan Stanley still hasn’t disclosed management fees or expense ratios for either fund. No official launch date has been announced either.
The documents also mention that creations and redemptions for the trusts would be handled in cash through authorized participants.
Competition Around Crypto ETFs Keeps Growing
The updated Ethereum and Solana ETF filings arrive as competition in the U.S. crypto ETF market continues to expand beyond Bitcoin. More financial firms are now pushing for investment products tied to major altcoins as institutional demand for crypto exposure grows.
