Payy is rolling out a new Ethereum layer 2 built around one idea: keeping everyday transactions out of the public spotlight. The network plugs directly into wallets like MetaMask and makes ERC-20 transfers private by default, without forcing users or developers to change how they interact with smart contracts.
Instead of broadcasting every movement on-chain, Payy routes transfers through private ERC-20 pools. This setup hides where funds are going when users send tokens from standard wallets. When interacting with DeFi applications, balances are moved through freshly generated addresses, adding another layer of separation between the user and their activity.
The project says its focus is on two groups: institutions and fintech companies that want to move value on Ethereum without exposing sensitive flows, and users who care about privacy but don’t want to manage multiple wallets or tools. Existing wallets and apps continue to work as usual, while larger players are expected to come through Payy’s distribution partners.
“I firmly believe privacy is the final barrier to critical mass adoption. By removing it, we’re unblocking the path for the $2 quadrillion global payments economy to move onchain, without turning every transaction into a data leak,”
Payy CEO Sid Gandhi said.
The launch lands as privacy is creeping back into the Ethereum conversation more broadly, with renewed interest in privacy-focused tools and ongoing efforts to bring better privacy directly to the wallet layer. For Payy, the bet is simple: if privacy becomes seamless, using Ethereum at scale starts to make a lot more sense.
