PUMP Token Hits Major Exchanges, Faces Early Volatility Despite $5B Valuation
After a highly anticipated token sale, the meme-inspired PUMP token from Pump.fun has officially started trading on major crypto platforms. Despite the hype, the token is already showing signs of a rocky start, sliding nearly 30% in value within its first day.
PUMP Launches On Exchanges, Price Takes A Hit
Just days after the public sale wrapped up, PUMP went live on several centralized exchanges. Kraken, Bybit, KuCoin, and MEXC were among the first to list the token, giving traders access to it almost immediately. But excitement quickly turned to concern as the token’s price dipped to around $0.005, a sharp drop from its early momentum.

Even with the price decline, PUMP is sitting on a massive fully diluted valuation of over $5 billion. According to the team behind Pump.fun, around 354 billion tokens are currently circulating, out of a total supply of 1 trillion.
Trading Volumes Spike, But Questions Remain
Despite the price drop, trading activity has skyrocketed. In just 24 hours, PUMP saw more than $500 million in volume—a staggering increase of over 8,000%. The surge followed Pump.fun’s confirmation that public sale participants would soon receive their tokens, allowing trading to begin in earnest.

Still, not everything has gone smoothly. Some participants voiced frustration over technical hiccups during the sale, including API issues on Bybit. Others criticized the project’s rollout, noting that earlier promises of an airdrop were missing from the launch announcement.
Pushback Over Launch and Sale Structure
The broader crypto community hasn’t held back in sharing mixed reactions to the launch. Critics have accused Pump.fun of favoring venture capital backers at the expense of everyday users, with some calling the sale a “cash grab.”
Adding fuel to the fire, a competing platform has emerged—backed by Binance—that offers a bonding curve model for token generation events. Unlike Pump.fun’s fixed structure, this new model adjusts token pricing dynamically, possibly signaling a new direction for meme coin launches.
While PUMP may have stumbled out of the gate, its massive valuation and high-profile listings mean it’s far from fading away. The coming days will reveal whether the token can stabilize—or if early concerns will continue to weigh it down.
