The team behind Pump.fun is facing new challenges after multiple related accounts were taken down from X — including the personal profile of its co-founder, Alon Cohen. The suspensions sparked confusion across the Solana and memecoin communities, especially with rumors swirling about a massive token sale on the horizon.
Alongside Pump.fun, several other profiles — like those tied to GMGN, Bloom Trading, and BullX — also went dark, suggesting a broader crackdown on accounts tied to memecoin infrastructure or automation tools. The reasons for the bans haven’t been officially disclosed, but speculation is growing.
Some users have hinted that the accounts might’ve accessed X data through unofficial methods, possibly triggering enforcement. Others point to recent regulatory pressure, especially given that Pump.fun was reportedly under investigation for alleged securities violations earlier this year. One lawsuit accused the platform of marketing unregistered tokens under the guise of memecoins, generating hundreds of millions in fees.
Despite the bans, the Pump.fun site and its associated tools are still online. According to some community members, the ban could impact visibility for the rumored $1 billion token offering, which many expected to launch this month.
“That $1B sale might be dead in the water now,”
one user posted.
Meanwhile, GMGN confirmed via Telegram that it’s appealing the ban and that its operations are continuing as usual.
Alon Cohen hasn’t made any public comment yet, and previously denied any plans for a Pump.fun token launch. Still, with increasing scrutiny and fewer channels to communicate, the project’s future remains uncertain — especially with the memecoin market still running hot.
