Riot Platforms trimmed its Bitcoin exposure in the first quarter, selling 3,778 BTC as Mining companies reacted to softer market conditions.
The firm generated roughly $289.5 million from the sale, with coins offloaded at an average price of $76,625, notably higher than current levels. During the same period, Riot produced 1,473 BTC and ended Q1 holding 15,680 BTC on its balance sheet. On-chain data also pointed to a separate 500 BTC movement from a wallet linked to the company earlier in the week.

The move reflects a broader trend among Bitcoin Mining firms, many of which have recently reduced reserves. Over the past week alone, MARA, Genius Group, and Nakamoto Holdings collectively reported selling more than 15,000 BTC.
Despite the selling pressure, accumulation hasn’t disappeared entirely. Strategy stood out in March, purchasing 44,377 BTC, the majority of acquisitions by publicly listed companies that month. Meanwhile, Japan-based Metaplanet added 5,075 BTC in Q1, pushing its holdings past 40,000 BTC.
Macro uncertainty continues to weigh on sentiment, and Bitcoin remains under pressure, trading well below its previous peak as volatility keeps both buyers and Mining companies cautious.
