A major prediction market platform just rolled out support for Solana, letting users fund their wallets directly with SOL — a move that’s already stirring up excitement across the ecosystem.
After weeks of anticipation, the team behind the platform confirmed that users can now deposit SOL instead of being limited to stablecoins. The update was announced in a post on X:
“Starting today, you can now make deposits into your Polymarket wallet using Solana.”
Until now, the only supported deposit method was USDC. Opening the door to SOL deposits could help bring fresh activity, especially as the Solana network continues to grow at a rapid pace.
Solana’s active address count recently hit 11 million, reflecting the surge in demand and trading activity. The integration with the prediction market could introduce a new wave of users who prefer native assets over stablecoins.
SOL Reacts With a Price Spike
Shortly after the news dropped, Solana’s price saw a quick jump, climbing nearly 7% to hit around $140. Over the past week, it’s up 10%, with momentum building as speculation heats up.
Trading volume exploded as well, surging 143% in just 24 hours to hit over $4 billion. Some analysts believe this momentum could be the beginning of a bigger rally, with price targets eyeing the $1,000 mark.
Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko has recently doubled down on the strength of Layer 1 networks like Solana, emphasizing the importance of speed and security over Layer 2 solutions. At the same time, he acknowledged a recent misstep with a past ad campaign that sparked controversy, stating:
“The ad was bad, and it’s still gnawing at my soul… I am ashamed I downplayed it instead of just calling it what it is – mean and punching down on a marginal group.”
With this integration now live, the prediction market opens its doors to a broader user base — and Solana, once again, finds itself in the spotlight.
