Sol Strategies, a Canadian firm focused on blockchain infrastructure, is acquiring three validators from Orangefin Ventures for $6.5M. Orangefin, known for its high-performance blockchain solutions, brings over 1.5M staked SOL to Sol Strategies’ portfolio.
Max Kaplan, founder of Orangefin and former Kraken engineer, will join Sol Strategies as Head of Staking. This acquisition boosts Sol Strategies’ validator operations, increasing its staked SOL to over 1.5M, valued at CAD $407M, with an average annual yield of 9%.
Validator Breakdown Post-Acquisition
- Proprietary Validator: 193,790 SOL ($52.3M CAD), with 142,684 SOL directly owned by Sol Strategies.
- Cogent Crypto Validator: 677,136 SOL ($183M CAD).
- Orangefin Ventures Validator: 634,219 SOL ($171.4M CAD).
Once completed, Sol Strategies will rank as the 64th largest staking validator on Solana, according to Solana Beach data.
Revenue Growth and Strategic Importance
The acquisition strengthens Sol Strategies’ revenue through predictable staking income and cements its position as a key infrastructure provider in blockchain. It also includes performance milestones to align Orangefin’s team with Sol Strategies’ goals.
CEO Leah Wald emphasized the strategic value of the acquisition:
