Tether has started 2026 by increasing its Bitcoin holdings, adding 8,888 BTC to its corporate reserves. On-chain data suggests this move follows a steady accumulation phase that unfolded during the final quarter of 2025.
During Q4, Tether is estimated to have acquired nearly 9,850 Bitcoin in total, including an exchange withdrawal of around 961 BTC in November and the large transfer to its reserve wallet on January 1. The purchase appears to be part of a longer-term strategy rather than a short-term market play.

With this latest addition, Tether’s total Bitcoin reserves are now estimated at approximately 96,000 BTC, placing the company among the largest known Bitcoin holders worldwide. Since 2023, Tether has consistently allocated a portion of its profits to Bitcoin, maintaining the same approach across different market conditions.
The company’s regular transfers to reserve addresses also provide a transparent on-chain record, reinforcing its long-term commitment to Bitcoin as a reserve asset.
Beyond digital assets, Tether has expanded into other areas. In December, the company launched a takeover bid for Juventus valued at around €1.1 billion, introduced the QVAC Health platform focused on on-device AI, and disclosed the acquisition of 26 tons of gold in Q3 2025, bringing total gold reserves to roughly 116 tons to support USDT and XAUT.
