Voters Put Crypto at the Bottom of Priorities

US voters rank crypto last in priorities ahead of 2026 midterms as sentiment stays weak across parties

A recent April survey of 1,000 registered US Voters shows that Crypto barely registers ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. Only 1% said it is their top issue, while just 3% picked it as the single most important factor.

Even so, the topic isn’t entirely ignored, around 22% still consider it relevant, and 40% said they would be open to supporting a candidate aligned with digital assets.

Mixed Sentiment Across Party Lines

The poll, conducted by Public Opinion Strategies, highlights a clear divide in attitudes.

  • Independents: 48% unfavorable vs 27% favorable
  • Democrat-leaning voters: 54% unfavorable vs 26% favorable
  • Republican-leaning voters: slightly positive at 41% favorable vs 39% unfavorable

Overall, trust remains low, with 62% of respondents saying they don’t trust the Trump administration to handle the sector.

Interestingly, AI performed better in the same survey, with a narrow but positive net favorability (46% vs 45%), showing how differently emerging technologies are viewed.

Low Adoption, Limited Political Pressure

Only 27% of respondents said they have ever used or traded Crypto, while another 27% said they might try it in the future.

That weak engagement may explain why policy momentum is slowing. As one industry voice, Cody Carbone, put it:

“There are outstanding sticking points, but that shouldn’t slow down the process.”

Still, analysts warn that voter indifference could reduce political pressure to advance legislation, even as industry groups continue spending heavily. Crypto-related campaign funding is expected to surpass the $120–130 million spent in 2024.

Historical patterns also suggest caution: midterm cycles have often coincided with major Bitcoin drawdowns, followed by recovery once political uncertainty fades.
