Coinbase users can now utilize their Visa debit cards to quickly fund their accounts and purchase cryptocurrencies, significantly reducing the traditional delays in transaction processing. This development comes from a new partnership announced on Tuesday, allowing customers in both the US and EU to make immediate deposits.

While many users have linked their debit cards to platforms like Coinbase, accessing those funds for trading has often been hindered by delays. This enhancement aims to streamline the process, enabling a quicker and more efficient transaction experience.

Bridging Traditional Finance and Blockchain

This integration with Visa Direct seeks to merge the traditional financial system with the blockchain space. By leveraging Visa’s technology, users will experience near-instantaneous transfers, which allows them to capitalize on market opportunities without prolonged waiting times.

Enhanced Trading and Withdrawal Capabilities

Yanilsa Gonzalez Ore, Head of Visa Direct for North America, emphasized the importance of this new feature, which allows users to trade continuously. Customers can now buy cryptocurrencies directly with their Visa debit card, avoiding the usual transaction delays. Furthermore, they can withdraw funds from Coinbase back to their bank accounts using the same eligible card.

This functionality significantly enhances the Coinbase user experience. The exchange also offers a Coinbase Visa debit card in the US, enabling users to integrate their crypto spending into everyday transactions wherever Visa is accepted.

Expanding Crypto Usability in Daily Transactions

In the UK, Coinbase offers another Visa card option for in-store and online purchases. Recently, Avalanche launched its own Visa card, providing users the ability to transact at any merchant that accepts Visa.

Visa has formed partnerships with over 50 crypto companies to introduce card programs that convert digital currencies into spendable funds. With these cards, users can shop at approximately 70 million merchant locations globally.

Visa’s main goal with these initiatives is to enhance the practicality of cryptocurrencies for daily transactions, effectively integrating them into regular shopping experiences.
