Another name enters the growing ETF race—this time with Nasdaq stepping in to help bring Grayscale’s AVAX Trust to public markets.
On March 27, Nasdaq submitted a proposal to the SEC aiming to convert the current Grayscale AVAX Trust into an exchange-traded fund. It’s a notable move that reflects the ongoing push to expand crypto exposure beyond just Bitcoin and Ethereum.

The move trails recent filings by firms like VanEck, signaling competition is ramping up to be the first to offer a publicly traded vehicle tied to AVAX.
If the SEC gives the green light, it would open a regulated path for traditional investors to tap into this asset through standard brokerage platforms.
The ETF would track the price performance of Avalanche, currently ranked in the top 20 cryptocurrencies by market cap. While approval is not guaranteed, momentum seems to be building for altcoin-focused products following the recent success of Bitcoin and Ethereum spot ETFs.
Grayscale isn’t stopping here either—the firm is also eyeing similar products tied to names like Solana, XRP, and Polkadot. Industry analysts say Litecoin and Hedera may also have favorable odds for SEC approval based on regulatory progress.
In a broader sense, all of this points to increasing interest from large institutions and asset managers looking to offer more diverse portfolios tied to the digital asset space.
The SEC’s response will be key. Though it has been slow to move on altcoin-based ETFs, changing political tides and growing public interest might be shifting the landscape.
With filings piling up from major players, the push to get ahead in this space is only intensifying.
