The Ethereum Foundation has locked a fresh batch of Ethereum into staking, committing 22,517 ETH, roughly $46 million, in what appears to be its largest single-day move so far.
On-chain data shows the funds were sent to the Beacon deposit contract early Monday, placing the tokens into the network’s proof-of-stake system where they help validate transactions and reinforce security. The transfer signals a continuation of the foundation’s more active treasury management approach this year.

This follows a broader shift in strategy, with the group increasingly putting idle holdings to work. By staking part of its reserves, it can earn yield while still contributing directly to network stability and long-term development.
The foundation says this model supports ongoing priorities such as research, ecosystem expansion, and community grants, while also strengthening the chain itself.
The staking activity comes not long after another treasury move, where 5,000 ETH were sold in an over-the-counter deal worth just over $10 million to BitMine Immersion Technologies. It wasn’t the first such transaction, last year, 10,000 ETH were also sold to SharpLink Gaming as part of periodic portfolio rebalancing.
At the time of writing, Ethereum was trading slightly above $2,000, posting modest gains over the past day and maintaining upward momentum on higher timeframes.
