Metaplanet has expanded its Bitcoin treasury once again, cementing its status as one of the biggest corporate holders of BTC. The Japan-listed company revealed it acquired 5,419 Bitcoin for about $632 million, bringing its total reserves to 25,555 BTC, worth nearly $3 billion.

This latest move pushes Metaplanet ahead of Bullish exchange in global Bitcoin treasury rankings, making it the fifth largest corporate holder of the asset. The company’s average purchase price stands near $106,000 per BTC, leaving it with almost $290 million in unrealized gains.
Despite the aggressive accumulation, Metaplanet’s stock dipped slightly by 0.5% to 605 JPY as broader crypto market weakness weighed on sentiment. CEO Simon Gerovich highlighted that the firm’s Bitcoin strategy has delivered a 395% year-to-date yield, reinforcing the company’s long-term commitment to BTC as its primary reserve asset.
Meanwhile, Bitcoin itself is trading near $112,600, showing mixed momentum as futures markets signal cautious buying from institutional players.
