Robinhood is diving deeper into blockchain tech with plans to roll out its own Layer 2 network built on Arbitrum. The move has already sparked major interest — and a sharp rise in both its share price and Arbitrum’s token.
Robinhood Eyes Blockchain Expansion via Arbitrum
At a company event in France, Robinhood officially revealed that it’s developing a new Layer 2 blockchain designed for real-world asset tokenization, starting with U.S. stocks. The platform will first release tokenized shares using Arbitrum’s infrastructure and transition to its own chain once completed.

This new system aims to let users trade stock tokens around the clock, offering self-custody and even dividend payments. For now, investors in Europe will be the first to test the feature, gaining access to over 200 tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs.
The announcement helped push HOOD shares up more than 10% on the day, while Arbitrum’s token saw a healthy jump as well — fueled by early speculation before the official unveiling.
More Features Coming to Europe and the U.S.
Alongside the blockchain reveal, Robinhood introduced new tools and features for crypto users. Customers in the EU will soon get access to perpetual futures with up to 3x leverage, via a partnership with Bitstamp.
In the U.S., crypto staking is being rolled out for select users, starting with support for Ethereum and Solana. European customers will also be able to participate in staking as part of the expansion.
CEO Vlad Tenev put it plainly:
“Our latest offerings lay the groundwork for crypto to become the backbone of the global financial system.”
The company also unveiled extras like crypto card rewards, smart order routing, improved tax tracking, and advanced charting tools — all aiming to boost user engagement and activity on the platform.
HOOD stock closed the day at $91.90, marking a strong 10% increase as the company marches forward toward its vision of becoming an all-in-one financial hub, though it will compete with X’s upcoming in-app trading service.
