Elon Musk’s X is taking another step toward becoming a finance-friendly platform. The company has introduced Smart Cashtags, a feature that lets users instantly check market data for both cryptocurrencies and stocks directly inside the app.
For now, the rollout is limited to iPhone users in the U.S. and Canada, but it signals a bigger push to integrate financial tools into everyday conversations on X.
Real-Time Charts Inside X
With Smart Cashtags, typing symbols like $BTC, $ETH, $XRP, or $DOGE automatically brings up live price charts and related posts. Users can tap on any cashtag to see real-time performance and community discussion in one place.
The feature also supports major equities, including $TSLA, $MSTR, and $COIN, making X a hub for both crypto and stock watchers.

According to the product team, this is only the beginning, with plans to expand trading capabilities and make financial interactions more seamless within the platform.
Trading Integration in the Works
As part of the launch, X is testing a partnership with Wealthsimple. The pilot allows Canadian users to trade selected assets directly from Smart Cashtags, removing the need to leave the app.
This move aligns with Elon Musk’s broader ambition to turn X into an “everything app,” blending social media, payments, and investing into one experience.
Crypto Community Reacts
The update quickly caught attention across crypto circles, especially with speculation about deeper integrations in the future. Many users are already watching how assets like Bitcoin and Dogecoin could play a bigger role in X’s financial ecosystem.
While markets moved only slightly after the announcement, the feature itself hints at a larger shift, where checking prices, discussing trades, and eventually executing them could all happen inside X.
