A tech company from Japan is making a bold move into the world of Bitcoin. Quantum Solutions, which operates in the artificial intelligence space, has announced plans to accumulate as much as 3,000 BTC over the next year through its Hong Kong branch, GPT Pals Studio.

Following a board meeting on July 23, the company approved an initial purchase of up to $10 million in Bitcoin, using borrowed capital. The goal is to steadily build a Bitcoin reserve worth around $354 million at current prices, positioning the asset as a long-term store of value.
Why the sudden shift into Bitcoin? The firm pointed to the weakening yen and growing economic instability worldwide. So far, GPT Pals Studio and its related entities hadn’t held any digital assets on their books.
“In order to efficiently manage surplus funds generated from existing businesses, diversify our asset portfolio to strengthen our financial base, preserve value over the medium- to long-term, and reduce foreign exchange risks, we have decided to add bitcoin to our reserve assets,”
the company explained.
The company plans to execute its Bitcoin purchases gradually, under a structured investment approach, and will use a designated account at the crypto platform Hashkey to handle the trades.
Japan has been seeing a quiet boom in Bitcoin reserves among its corporations. With government bond yields continuing to climb, businesses are increasingly turning to digital assets as a hedge. Metaplanet, the country’s largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, now owns 16,352 BTC. Other companies, such as NEXON, Remixpoint, SBC Medical Group Holdings, Convene, and Anap Holdings, are also adding Bitcoin to their balance sheets, bringing the national total to 19,623 BTC.
While impressive, that still pales in comparison to the holdings of the world’s largest corporate Bitcoin reserve, Strategy, which controls a staggering 607,770 BTC.
